About the Course
With the
increasing mental health challenges and issues, psychological well-being is
gaining more and more importance. Learners who are passionate about
understanding and learning the skills required to be an efficient counsellor
can opt for the course on Counselling and its Applications. This course delves
into understanding the foundations and practical skills necessary for achieving
success in counselling practices across different settings. Learners explore
several counselling ideologies, such as humanistic-existential therapy,
psychodynamic therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy etc. with emphasis on
practical life examples and case discussions. Emphasis is placed on the cultivation
of therapeutic rapport, active listening, empathy, and cultural competence. The
areas covered include the counsellor's role in promoting clients' well-being,
methods of evaluation, approaches for intervention, and ethical considerations.
Students acquire the necessary skills to apply counselling theories and
practices to effectively address a range of client challenges and facilitate
constructive transformation. This is achieved via the use of case studies,
role-playing exercises, supervised practice sessions etc. This course is
meaningful for all students who wish to utilize the knowledge gained for either
personal or professional purposes. It will not only enhance the skills as a
counsellor, it will also help the learner to work on their psychological
